Witness to the city’s history since 1909, when it was built by P. Naum Petru, the clock is a historical monument, a work of architectural art and a symbol of Brăila city. Sitting at the confluence of the new town and the old town, it is not only functional, but has never, ever, stood a minute behind.
A five-minute walk from Alma Health & Spa Retreat you will discover a true masterpiece. Carved in the Maramureșean style from fir wood, the monastery has a 24 meter bell tower and is decorated with painted icons, nine of which date back to the 17th century. Nine of them are from the 19th century. The monastery’s museum exhibits more than 3000 objects – from traditional cloths, hairpieces and costumes, books, icons to household items – over 100 years old, telling the stories of those who donated them.
Considered a second Danube Delta, the Small Island of Brăila is one of the most beautiful natural parks in our country, with its landscapes of natural vegetation, virgin islets and lakes and with over 200 species of birds. Hire a boat and set off to explore this enchanting place, which preserves its aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem intact!
